She’s funky and fashionable in her 40’s.
How’s the saying go? 30’s are the new 20’s…40’s are the new 30’s??? FunkyForty blogger, Yvonne doesn’t compromise high heels for any silly number ensuring she’s getting the most out of life. Zuri Girl was thrilled to chat with this 40 something Kiwi, living in Zurich who loves fashion, travel, shopping, food and believing chocolate will cure almost anything!
We caught up with Yvonne to learn a bit more about what makes her tick…
Who inspired you to enter the field of work you are in now?
Blogging is something I had been thinking of for awhile but somehow a little nervous about starting. Then one November, I went to an apero at a little dress shop (unfortunately no longer existing), where I met Dale from SavvySleepers.com. She was so very sweet and gave me just that confidence boost to set me off on my way and so FunkyForty.com began.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
When I first moved to Europe I lived in London for a year. At that time it was super hard to find accommodation, I spent weeks trudging through huge thunderstorms trying to get a room. Then finally ended up living in Parsons Green with a huge 4 meter long Python snake as a pet. Being petrified of snakes this was HUGE but a great story to tell as the years go by. My flatmates used to let it out at night …made it tricky for midnight bathroom visits – eek!
Favorite Restaurants or Boutiques we should check out?
I have loads of local tips but one of my favourites is buying flowers in Jelmoli – you get the best deal in town from the flower shop on same level as food. The best dry cleaner in town has got to be the Cleaning Store in Wollishofen. The absolute grooviest and cheapest place to buy sneakers is Titolo in Niederdorf. My favourite restaurant is Cantinetta Antinori – fab Italian food.
How do you keep organized?
This question is easy – when it comes to being tidy I tend to put things away as soon as possible so I’m not left with a huge tidy job ever. For other things, my life consists of lists – unfortunately they never seem to get any shorter.
‘Favorite blogger to follow?
There are so many fabulous bloggers out there that it seems wrong to name only one but ever since I started the one blog which I have found truly inspirational is Catherine’s from notdressedaslamb.com.
