Remember that dreary February day when the sun went down at 4pm? Or that same February when the sun never actually came out all day…or all week!? Well those days are loooong gone ladies. On 21 June, summer is officially here!
Favorite Things to Do in June in Zurich…
Culture Addict. Festspiele (Zurich’s Cultural Festival) happens every 2 years and lucky for us, 2018 it is! Over 3 weeks, cultural centers host 140 events in the fields of opera, music, theater, fine arts, literature, dance and performance. One of the highlights is Oper für Alle, when Sechseläutenplatz becomes a larger than life theatre and hosts a free live-screening of Franz Lehár’s operetta «Das Land des Lächelns.
Happy Hump Day. Regional bands perform free concerts every Wednesday at Bar Fussbar. A city tradition for 20 years, Live am Mittwoch is a MUST on the Summer in Zurich bucket list.
New to Town. For the 1st time, Zurich will host the FIA Formula E Race. On the 16th of June, electrically powered race cars will sprint through the city turning bends & heads throughout town in an action-packed competition. As if the the day-to-day car scene isn’t impressive enough!
Hopp Schwiiz. If you live in a football cave, it will be hard to stay hidden in June when the World Cup hijacks everything from televisions and websites to wardrobes and coffee corners. The month long tournaments start on the 14th and mega-cool Viewing Parties in Zurich will take place at Bogen F, Escherwyss Club, Fork & Bottle, Sihl City, Maag Halle, Frau Gerold’s Garden, Calvados Bar @ Idaplatz and of course the sportaholic hangouts like Pickwick’s, Oliver Twist and the FIFA Museum.
A Fitness Takeover. Pick a night to join Budokon Yoga where you’ll combine strength training, cardio and yoga using movements more likely to be made by gorillas, chimpanzees and dragons than your typical Zuri Girl. It’s been a hot topic at the Girlfriend Guide headquarters these days!
