Although in town for over 15 years, the only Studelhaus in Zurich’s recent Vegan Brunch caught our attention and we were curious to know more about this Zurich staple. Chatting with co-owner Violeta, we are excited to share the cozy comforts of Strudelhaus Pousche with you!
The Food & Drinks
A family of chefs & bakers perfected the traditional Bulgarian strudel to spoil Zurich with delicious lunch, brunch and afternoon snack scrumptiousness.
Whether the full buffet or the la carte select from vegetarian savory and sweet strudels and a variety of salads like Couscous, beetroot & carrot, hummus, tomato, feta and rosti with Eastern European fresh herbs and spices.
Zuri Girl loved loved loved the crispy outside with gooey inside of the spinach strudel and could have her regular lunch be the beet root and carrot salad. Paired with the home-made ice tea served in a generous portion size (by Zurich standards). Delish!
Strudelhaus Pousche actually has 3 locations throughout town in Kries 4, Wollishofen and between Enge & Sihl City with the last being our favorite. The vibe is an imtimate, elegant, girlish casual with black plush-velvet chairs and black leather bar stools brightened by colorful magazine cover wall art and outdoor seating along Waffenplatzstrasse…not the best view compared to Zurich lakefront, but enough foot traffic to keep people watching interesting.
The buffet style counter makes for an easy & quick selection process. You can clearly see everything and it’s all labeled with names & prices so no fear of German here!
Easy to bring a baby buggy and the comfort-style food is a hit with a hungry breastfeeding momma!
Why we Love it
Cooked up by 3 sisters and their mom, these ladies love food! They live for delicious dishes and accept nothing less. We support that mantra!
Most Zurich cafes serve the same coffee and cake (which we love of course)…BUT Pousche’s sweet strudel are totally different than the everyday Zurich “kuchen”. Their so filling and comforting…it’s really a delicious afternoon treat with friends. Our favorite would have to be the chocolate, but that won’t stop us from enjoying the rhubarb or strawberry.
