A fashion label dedicated to bringing out the inner confidence of its customers, we caught up with Perret Schaad.
There are many Swiss Fashion Designers that are so incredibly creative, modern and passionate. We aim to dig deeper, beyond their designs and into the minds and hearts of what inspires them to dedicate their lives to their brand. Join us on a journey of discovering all things fashionably Swiss…allow us to introduce you to Perret Schaad, the brand created by Johanna and Tutia.
GG: Tell us about your brand name?
Perret Schaad: Our brand name is built out of our family names. Perret comes from Johanna’s father, who is french and Schaad comes from Tutia´s stepfather, who is Swiss. We liked the symmetry with the double”R” in “PERRET” and the double “A” in “SCHAAD”.
GG: Tell us about the logo?
Perret Schaad: It was designed in Switzerland by the typographer Guy Meldem.
GG: How would you describe your designs?
Perret Schaad: They are cool, feminine, confident and timeless.
GG: Where are most of your items produced?
Perret Schaad: All our products are produced in Germany.
GG: What is your earliest memory of being inspired by fashion?
Perret Schaad: Johanna grew up in a design and art family. Her father works as an architect and her mother studied art. Tutia grew up with a mathematician mother and an engineer father but was drawing clothes since she could hold a pencil.
GG: What is your fashion influence? Travel? People? Fashion Weeks?
Perret Schaad: Our inspiration comes from different places but what we find most inspirational are the women that we meet and dress.
GG: What is your favorite piece you ever designed?
Perret Schaad: The bag “Leopold” in calfskin bordeaux, which is stylish and versatile and the blouse “Jerome” in wool georgette, which is cool and nonchalant.
GG: What are your favorite fabrics/textures?
Perret Schaad: We love natural fabrics and use mostly silk, wool and fine cotton in our collections. To achieve interesting and contrasting combinations, we mix them with technical and innovative textiles or self-woven fabrics.
GG: Where do you source your fabrics and where are your fashions produced?
Perret Schaad: Our silks and wools are from Italy and Germany and our cottons from Switzerland.
GG: Can you give some fashion advice to our readers?
Perret Schaad: Acknowledge your assets and find out which colors suit you best. Some tones enhance your skin, eyes and hair colors, creating a beautiful and natural beauty look.
