She helps you create the life you really want for yourself.
With the motto, “The future of work is now. Design a life you love.” Lisa Christen pushes us to not only recognize within ourselves our deepest desires, but to overcome our fears and begin living the life we have always wanted.
We caught up with Lisa to learn a bit more about what makes her tick…
What do you love most about your job?
Literally everything. I started coaching because I think people are unbelievably amazing. To watch people follow their dreams and fall in love with life again is so inspirational that I go to bed every night happy and I wake up every morning excited!
Tell us about you at home…how do you unwind?
I like to unwind with mind / body / soul activities. I love snuggling on the couch to read, practicing yoga, and watching TED talks for inspiration. Also, somehow chocolate is always involved.
Favorite restaurant/cafe in Zurich?
On our “Babymoon” to Dubai a few years back, I made my Swiss husband try Indian food for the first time. He became obsessed! Now he almost exclusively wants to eat at Chalet India, which is by far the best Indian place in Zurich.
What’s your favorite inspirational quote?
Hands down the passage Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson (I still get chills every single time I read it). It’s so liberating and powerful and motivating. It keeps me connected with a sense of infinite possibilities in life … if only I allow myself to chase them! And who am I not to?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
What advice would you give to your younger self?
That being successful just to prove to others how smart and successful you are will never be satisfying. I spent most of my life working incredibly hard at jobs that were well-respected and well-paid… and completely meaningless. Younger Lisa, true success is about doing meaningful work you love extraordinarily well.
