Some places just “get it” and Zuri Girl set out to find the best brunches our city has to offer. It’s time to pull out your social calendars, call some girlfriends and meet up at these fabulous weekend hotspots, and we love it when a glass of Prosecco is included…now, if only we could convince one of these fabulous restaurants to build a Bloody Mary Bar!
The Standard…When considering Brunch in Zurich, Bohemia always comes to mind, as they were among the first to offer an American-style brunch years ago, complete with bagels lox & cream cheese. Renovated in ’11, and better than ever, this modern interior is reminiscent of a Parisian café, with comfy booths, lounge and bar seating. Bocafé, the house-roasted coffee is special in and of itself (roasted every Friday by corporate accountant/coffee enthusiast!). Check the schedule for free concerts by local musicians.

Babu’s Bakery & Coffeehouse
Worth the wait…Brunch at Babu’s often includes a delay, even with a table reservation, but isn’t the excitement of Sunday brunch to enjoy a casual atmosphere that is humming along in the background while you are catching up on your favorite magazines and newspapers alongside a luscious cup of tea or coffee? We recommend the etagèren, there are 3 to choose from and all options include pancakes!

Simplicity at it’s finest…this is where Schickimicki hipsters have brunch in Zurich. The inviting spread at the buffet includes simple ingredients, perfectly presented. The atmosphere is chill, yet incredibly modern. Full of surprising contradictions, this is one of our favorite brunch spots in Zurich. Be sure to have a close look at the chandeliers while you are there. We love.

Green oasis…The atmosphere of this kitchen and urban garden is well worth the escape to Wipkingen for Brunch (or any other meal during the week). Enjoy gluten free buckwheat waffles with bananas, walnuts and salted caramel sauce or go for something a bit more savory…thick slices of brioche with hollandaise, crispy bacon, local bratwurst and oven roasted tomatoes.

Unassuming yet exclusive…Serving brunch only on special Sundays (namely once per month) Gisserei may very well be the best brunch in Zurich for those looking for high quality food in a very unassuming atmosphere…an old metal foundry.

Stay a while…The team invites you to appreciate their motto: “simplicity – well done – is good” and we have never been disappointed. No overdone brunch here…enjoy a simple breakfast menu, with crepes on Sunday. Oh, and the cappuccinos are so smooth and creamy we can never have just one.

Beyond Fondue…traditionally, we love to spend winter evenings at Chäsalp for the fondue. If you have never been before, summer brunch is complete with an endless buffet of traditional specialties alongside outdoor picnic tables overlooking an inviting green meadow. Perfect for families where the kids can play freely…after they are charged based on height in centimeters!

Traditionally Delicious…Historically, the sport of ‘fencing’ was not allowed within the city limits, so this nature spot was popular among sport enthusiasts. Today, Wirtschaft Degenried offers a beautiful Wald-Zmorge – Forests’s Breakfast – to include a glass of sparkling wine, warm beverages, and a sumptuous brunch buffet for adults and children. Konfitüre is homemade and the Fotzelschnitten (Swiss-style French Toast) is not to be missed! For the perfect afternoon, walk off your brunch through the winding forest trails near the Dolder.

Fork & Bottle
A hidden gem…Opened April 2012, Fork & Bottle is the culinary brainchild of chef Mike Goguen from Melt Catering. He just gets it. In addition to the usual American Brunch suspects, Gougen serves up Cinnamon Brioche French Toast, Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, a heavenly California Breakfast Burrito and delicate blueberry muffins with lemon zest & crumble topping. All pairs well with his Artisinal Beer menu!

NENI Zurich Langstrasse
Oh yes…”Come stay the night with me” is the motto of the 25hours Hotel Langstrasse and “get in my belly” is how we feel about their late breakfast, aka brunch menu. Among the many delectable options, it is the Shakshuka that lands on our table time and time again.

Restaurant Boucherie AuGust
Carnivore and more…Dubbed as Zurich’s best place to eat meat for carnivores, AuGust has a diverse brunch selection that includes everything from American style pancakes to the decadent Eggs Rennweg Style (Scrambled eggs, king crab, raw ham from Valais, sour cream with chives and toast)…then there is the surprise Asian Noodle Soup on the menu just incase you had a craving.

Le Pain Quotidien
Simply bread…Enjoy this casual restaurant where well-intentioned simplicity is superior. From soft buttery croissants to large jars of delectable konfitüre and chocolate spreads complimentary on each table – far more appealing than the tiny single serving packets found at most restaurants! Don’t forget to purchase a fresh baguette on your way out!

Beyond the Buffet…Sure, we love Hiltl for breakfast, lunch and dinner (did you know they have an awesome breakfast spread starting at CHF 4.00/100g?!) but their rich brunch buffet on Sundays and holidays from 09.30-14.30 is fabulous, complete with live music, a glass of Prosecco…and children under 6 eat free!
