The Lake is a picture-perfect postcard symbol of Zurich and once it warms, the promenade is buzzing with strolling couples, the baths are filled with sun goddesses and the smell of open charcoal grills stem from every plot of lawn.
Embrace this picturesque playground Zuri Girl style with some of our favorite lakeside activities to keep us smiling all summer long.
Have fun girls!
Relax. Soak by the shores at Seebad Enge or Seebad Utoquai. These lakeside baths, equipped with stunning mountain views and easy lake access, offer various amenities such as sun-bathing decks, bath and sauna facilities, sunrise and sunset yoga, massage therapy and chilled refreshments.
Cruise. Add a little romance to your week with a sunset cruise! Vessels depart Burkliplatz regularly and cruise times range from 1.5 to 7 hours. Be sure to show your train pass for reduced offers.
People Watch. The Pumpstation bar and restaurant could not have a more ideal location…just footsteps from the lake and directly on the main promenade, you can enjoy a cold beer, grilled kebabs and watch Zurich pass you by.
Cycle. The lake is surrounded by a flat, sign-posted cycling path. For optimal views, it is best to begin near Bellevue and end near Enge so your bike lane is always closest to the lake. The full circle is 70KM – if that seems a bit overwhelming go Zuri Girl style by cycling halfway, enjoying lunch in Rapperswill and then sailing back! Free cycle rentals are available all throughout the city at Zuri rollt locations.
Paddle. The boat rental center, Lago, is located a few steps from the Bellevue tram stop and rentals start as low as 18CHF. On a really hot day, paddle your way through the lake fountains for a cool splash or give yourself a challenge and try Stand Up Paddle Boarding.
Picnic. Go simple. Pack a picnic basket with Riesling, cheese and crackers and a deck of cards and meet friends at the grassy area near the Chinese Garden or one of Zuri Girl’s Favorite Picnic Spots.
Swim. The Zurich Lake is cyrstal clear clean and almost every neighborhood offers a Badi (swimming pool). Some even have lake access, kids pools, playgrounds, water slides and picnic areas. For families, kids LOVE building sand castles and waddling in the baby pool at Badi Mythenquai before filling up their plate at the CHF 5 Franc Savvy & delicious Hiltl canteen.
