We’ve GOT the fine dining experience for you!

The coordinators of Lange Nacht der Hotel Bars have taken the concept a step further. Their newest event is one of the best we’ve found to experience a variety of what fine dining in Zurich is all about.

Sometimes choosing only one thing to do for a night out can be hard. With so much to try in a large city like Zurich and only so little time, it’s hard to know where the best places are. So why not try out a few different things in one night? Gourmets On Tour (GOT) offers semi-private, top-notch dining and live music in some of best and well-known locations in Zurich. In one evening GOT’s dinner experience includes three individual restaurants, seating with 8-10 other guests at one large table while enjoying a set, three-course gourmet meal. And not to forget, fine wine and drinks that fit perfectly with every dish.

Our GOT night out began with a champagne aperitif and appetizer at the “starter restaurant”, Steigenberger Hotel Bellerive au Lac. The other three couples that would be part of our “tour group” were there and this gave us a chance to get acquainted. While we started at one of the three restaurants, two other groups were starting at the other two restaurants and at the end of the night, we would all meet together for one last drink and live piano music. One couple had been to the last GOT evening and enjoyed it so much that they brought another couple along with them. “It’s a great way to enjoy fine dining at the right price”, is what they told us and we’d agree!

Great food is one thing that GOT is known for. We were treated to three different appetizers all of which were simply divine! Roasted ox with a small salad, scallops with lemon polenta, beef ravioli in cream sauce – all were simple enough yet compact with unique flavors. White wine was also served. At Eden au Lac the main menu, a very tender fillet minion, was served with perfectly steamed vegetables and accompanied by a smooth red wine. Dessert at Ambassador was a generous-sized flambéed champagne cream served with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate together . A glass of nice and harmonius sweet wine was served with dessert and coffee or tea was also offered. After four hours of delicious dining, we went back to Eden au Lac to meet with the other two groups for an after dinner cocktail, live music and to receive a complimentary gift. The Eden Bar has a charming atmosphere with plush sofas, enjoyable music and the perfect setting to relax after an enjoyable evening.

Outstanding service is not to be missed at GOT evenings. All hosts and hostesses offered prompt coat, dinner and drink service. When served a new dish, it was described in both German and in English and finding our way to the next dinner destination was no trouble as hosts were there to accompany us. The piano player was exceptional and performed a variety of memorable songs. Our glasses were always full and we were not left wanting throughout the entire evening.

From our experience, GOT would be a terrific evening for a group of friends, girls night out, surprise birthday party, engagement celebration, a double-, triple- or quadruple-date or a sponsored event by a club or social group. GOT could also be a high impact corporate event or team building exercise. GOT will arrange for vegetarian meals upon request, but the event is meant for the more adventurous and less picky or sensitive eater. A Zuri Girl insider tips to think about: Although we interacted with others in our group, by the end of the night we remained more-or-less with the people we came with. This could be because we didn’t all share a common language or because none of the couples really intended their evening out to be a way to meet others. In the end, that is the beauty of Gourmets on Tour – always something new and different to experience.

Gourmets on Tour takes place every first and last Fridays of the month in Seefeld and Enge districts, respectively. The next event in Enge is already booked, however the Friday, March 2 event in Seefeld still has tickets available. The “all inclusive” price of 167- covers all drinks, gourmet menus and coffee. Tickets available at starticket on a “first come, first served” basis. To organize a private or corporate event or for more information, please visit Gourmets on Tour Home Page.

Enjoy your gourmet night out!
