Sugar Awareness Week

Did you know that the Swiss consume on average 28 kg of sugar a year?

This is 19 teaspoons (1 teaspoon is approximately 4 grams) of sugar a day, while recommended maximum amounts are 9 teaspoons a day for men and 6 teaspoons for women!

Puricious Health Coaching hit us hard with scary sugar facts and created a Sugar Awareness Week to help you beat this beast.

Here’s the scoop from Puricious…

The food industry has found ways to add sugar in almost everything we eat – even in ‘healthy’ and savoury foods! They know we love it and will consume more of it!

Why is too much sugar not good for us?

Although 1 teaspoon of sugar will not kill us, the accumulated amount of sugar we are currently consuming has been found to cause many illnesses.

The additional amount of sugar that cannot be metabolised by our bodies, gets stored as fat, especially on our hip and belly area. It can lead to obesity, lowered immune system, cavities, cardiovascular disease, mood swings, depression, and low energy levels.

Reducing your sugar intake is the first step to a healthy lifestyle! It will help you get off the rollercoaster of energy & mood swings. Additionally, the less sugar (incl. white simple carbs such as pasta and bread) you eat, the less you crave it!

There is a gap between knowing how sugar impacts your health and doing something about it. Most of us know by now that sugar is not our best friend. However, as long as we do not get into action, nothing will change.
