What’s been an Instagram paradise for 11 straight days must sadly come to an end. An event that took the Zurich food scene by storm, we’ve been enjoying one delicious dish after another.
But before returning to our regular weekly dinner routine, we swung by the closing party at Engrosmarkt for an afternoon of food & fun. Lined with tasting stations, 5-star chefs, local gourmet makers and international food trucks, we maneuvered through the party with our eyeballs and taste buds leading the way.
The adventure traveler in us loved, loved, loved the mix of flavors and cultures in Hall 2 packed with Food Trucks from different parts of the world. Banhmi’s Kitchen‘s Flank Steak with Vietnamese flavors spruced up the typical street-food burger and the Sri Lankan Kottu Roti stir fried with lamb, eggs & veggies had a line certainly worth waiting for.
In the world of kids fried chicken fingers, it was uplifting to see Betty Bossi with healthy food stations and hands-on activities for the little ones. For a franc savvy-fee, kids could strap on an apron and dig right into smoothie making, sandwich grilling, vegetable dip blending and cake decorating before heading outdoors to the wooden box slide and small play area.
We saw some of our favorite Zurich foodies like Seefeld Gin, I Make you Drunk. I Make you Hot, Beat Heuberger and the classy 5-star Giardino whom we fell in love with in Ascona, but have since been serving an Urban Retreat Sunday Brunch in Zurich.
Of course we saved plenty of time to discover new temptations…From now on our crackers will be spruced up with handcrafted Apple-Ginger Ketchup from Paul Ketchup…our cheese will sweetened by Tantemma’s Konfi and our Christmas stockings filled with Maison Mausi’s Gingerbread spice.
A special thanks to Berg & Tal, one of our favorite Viadukt Slow Food friends for showcasing 40+ stalls of local, sustainable yumminess many of which were newbies to the Zurich food scene.
We will miss you FOOD Zurich!print
