Honk! Behind the Scenes

Book your tickets now for the English Theatre Group of Zug’s performance of HONK! While attending one of their rehearsals, Zuri Girl was a firsthand witness to how committed all members of The English Theater Group of Zug are to giving their audience a first-rate theater experience. What includes, but is not limited to: Learning to tap dance, discussing notes and rehearsing endless hours on Wednesday and Sunday evenings since before the summer.

This year’s performance features a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story: The Ugly Duckling that incorporates a message of tolerance. Set in the countryside, it features Ugly – a Cygnet who is mistaken as an ugly duckling upon falling into his mother’s nest and is rejected by everyone but Ida (his mother), a sly tomcat who only befriends him out of hunger, and several other barnyard characters.

Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical will bring smiles to all in the family. And accompanied by a live orchestra, the cast will surely delight you! So if you have not been to Zug yet, this might be the perfect moment to discover this lakeside town that is less than 30 minutes from Zürich HB.

Zuri Girl went behind the scenes to catch some of the rehearsal watching the action of the cast and professional direction of Peter Gilbert, The Director; Michal Belssing, the Stage Manager and Lorenz Ulrich, the Music Director.

Cast members sing following recommendations by the musical director.

The cast listens as the director goes over his notes from the last rehearsal.

Cast members perform the first scene of Act 1.
