After much anticipation, the Lotti Restaurant Bar Cafe is now open!
We have a favorite new response to the popular question “Where should we meet near the HB?” …Lotti!
Here are the top 5 reasons we have #LottiLove…
The Location: A fabulous juxtaposition between the big brand names on Bahnhofstrasse and local neighborhood cafe personality is what you will find at Lotti. If you know where the Singing Christmas Tree is located during Weihnachten, you will find Lotti all year ’round. Hint…it’s just steps away from Zurich HB! Keep reading for more information and address below…
The Food & Drinks: Local food prepared with heart is what you will find at this restaurant. Most items are cooked to perfection in either the grill or oven and we highly recommend the Züriflade, a Lotti specialty! During lunch hours you will find the Lotti z’Mittag... the daily a la carte menu includes 2 to 4 additional, changing dishes including salad or soup for your afternoon enjoyment.
Get this…there is no wine menu. Rather, you can enjoy one of 8 open bottles of wine and two wine coolers with rarities, exclusive single bottles and other unique wines. Try something new, try an old vintage, enjoy a mini-wine tasting at your table. The focus is on wines from Switzerland and neighboring countries. Also…sure, we love tasting unique beverages, but it’s always the original we crave because they just do it right! On the drink menu at Lotti you will find the original Coca-Cola and Campari, among many other traditional favorites.
The Passion. Honest and unpretentious, this is a family restaurant with great dedication to quality and high values. They have put years into researching some of the best items to serve on the menu and all ingredients are locally sustained. Curious for the details? The meat comes from Metzgerei Rust, and Holzen Fleisch…the fish comes primarily from the Zürichsee and the coffee is roasted nearby in at RickliS Kaffeerösterei in Uznach…we could keep going, but you simply have to visit Lotti to taste and experience the quality for yourself.
The Team. Rather, we should say “The Family”… the heart of Lotti is run like a family run business. When we went for a pre-opening visit, the hostess with the mostess, Anna Zimmermann, was working with her sister on the fine details involved leading up to the restaurant’s opening, while their father, René Zimmermann from ”Wirtschaft Neumarkt”, was arriving to supervise their progress. Also on the team is Martin Arnold from “Certo” Ristorante on Werdplatz and Ralf Weber who was chef at Wirtschaft Neumarkt. We can be sure their combined experience and passion (blood, sweat and tears) have been put into this fabulous location.
The Story. That’s right…the name Lotti comes from the main character in the popular Swiss children’s book Die Turnachkinder im Sommer (and the second book im Winter) by Ida Bindschedler (available here) Anna and her sister grew up reading this children’s book with their parents. One day, while looking for inspiration for the restaurant’s name, the main character, Lotti, came to mind. She is fierce, fearless and full of passion. Sounds like someone we know and we wish her all the success in the world!
Zuri Girl Tip:Open from 8am during the week, enjoy your morning coffee with Lotti. Also, during the Christmas season, pop into Lotti and sip on some fine hot chocolate while enjoying a presentation from the Singing Christmas Tree!
