Singapore Airlines Premium Economy

We recently boarded the world’s largest, double decker, passenger airliner – the A380 with Singapore Airlines who presented their new Premium Economy Class experience on flights from Zurich.

Truth be told, most travelers on short duration flights, prefer an Economy class ticket (leaving more money to spend in the city they are visiting!) but when traveling 12 hours, this new service offered by Singapore Airlines is well worth the additional investment and could easily be deemed less expensive than a weekend in Zurich when you include activities and dining out.

Here are the top 5 reasons we love the NEW Premium Economy Service from Singapore Airlines:

The Space
Why would we want to torture ourselves with an uncomfortable long haul flight where eating, sleeping and trying to watch a movie is nearly impossible when the seat in front of you is reclined! The new Premium Economy seat has a width ranging from 47 and 49.5 cm and offers a 20.3 cm recline with leg and calf rest. The seat pitch (the distance between the middle of your seat and the middle of the seat in front of you) measures 96.5 cm…which means plenty of extra legroom…a WONDERFUL benefit for families traveling with children!

The Food
We had a delicious sampling of inflight cuisine provided onboard, provided by Gate Gourmet, and momentarily forgot we were at the airport! Everything from the Beef Tenderloin with Potato Gratin, to the Pan Fried Salmon with Black Squid Ink Spaghetti reminded us that we can enjoy fine dining at 30,000 feet! Would you like to guarantee your meal before you fly? No problem! Simply take full advantage of the Singapore Airlines “Book the Cook” service available to all Premium Economy Class ticket holders. PS…Champagne is included throughout the flight!

The Amenities
Your seat is equipped with a very large 33.5 cm full HD monitor and noise cancelling headphones offering over 1,000 inflight entertainment options including movies, television programs, music, games and apps, all accessible via the convenient touchscreen handset. There are also 2 USB ports, a personal in-seat reading lamp, and additional storage in the arm console for your water bottle and other personal items. With so much entertainment, the flight time will go by quickly!

The Service
Singapore Airlines is famous for attentive service from their well-trained flight attendants. Traveling with children? They are trained to help desperate parents calm crying infants. Traveling for business? They are trained to take cues from you to ensure you are not disturbed while working or sleeping so you can arrive relaxed and refreshed.

Priority Treatment
Premium Economy Class ticket holders can enjoy the same priority treatment that Business and First Class travelers enjoy, such as priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling to ensure your trip is smooth and relaxed from beginning to end. As they say at Singapore Airlines, “It starts with a seat, and ends with a smile”.

It is so easy to plan a trip to Singapore, or any connecting destination (we hear Cebu, Philippines is incredibly family friendly!) with the special prices for Premium Economy to celebrate this new service. Special rates are available until 31 July 2016 for travel between 1 June – 10 December 2016. Don’t forget to have a look at local tips from Your Singapore.
