The lady who sparks curiosity in all of us.
We might consider her to have one of the coolest jobs in Zurich, spending days and nights hosting taster workshops on all different subjects with past courses including hobby related topics such as photography, creative writing, food and wine and business topics such as social media, presenting and much much more.
We caught up with Selina to learn a bit more about what makes her tick…
What, or who, inspired you to enter the field of work you are in now?
It was the realisation that there must be more to life than just work. This got me searching for what I was passionate about and after running some Curious Courses, I realised that I love learning, getting people together and opening people’s minds 🙂
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
I used to be incredibly shy. I started working in my parent’s Chinese takeaway shop at the age of 15 where I would meet people all the time and this really helped me overcome my shyness. Now I love meeting people.
Tell us about you out on the town…any favorite restaurants or boutiques that we should checkout?
One of my favourite little shops selling clothes and bits ‘n’ pieces is Camaleon. Always a bit quirky and different. They’re celebrating their 15th birthday which is something I have a lot of respect for (from a business owner’s point of view).
If I want my Chinese food fix, I head to Beyond, Zollstrasse 20, 8005 Zurich for some spicy szechuan food. If it’s to meet friends for lunch, something simpler from Hiltl or Tibits and if it’s a special occasion, Napoli.
What’s your favorite inspirational quote?
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. – Walt Disney
It had to be something curious related, didn’t it 😉
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Do things you love doing and do them because you want to, not because you think you should or need to.
Don’t be afraid to try because you will learn from it whether it works or it doesn’t.
Be kind and gentle to yourself.
Give yourself regular pats on the back 🙂
