Smoke, meat, Everyday – what a perfect motto for Stephan von Matt’s new brainchild, the Brisket
Kreis 5, bubbly, lively and über-cool gastro scene surely isn’t short of trendy eateries. It’s very latest addition,the Brisket is a trendy BBQ restaurant and bar which opened a few days ago and fits in perfectly. The Brisket scores highly firstly because of its convenient location just in front Pfingstweid Parking and a few steps away from Maag Hall and secondly because of the trendy crowd and very friendly staff.
The Brisket hosts a spacious dining room with a large wooden table at the entrance. Further down the restaurant there is a bar and an outdoor terrace, ideal for indulging in the large cocktail menu on those warm, balmy summer days which are just around the corner.
The rustic, industrial-style decor with its subdued lighting combine to create a convivial, relaxed interior redolent of NY eateries. The hand- crafted dining tables are carved down, burnt along the surface to give it a special glow and seem to have been made to fit into the restaurant’s rustic ambiance.
Comfort food at its very best. The menu is small however well considered and features Southern BBQ dishes. Amongst others, you will find chicken wings, beef sausages and of course the eponymous pepper briskets. The house specialty, the “Grand Slam“ is a carnivorous dream and includes a portion of every smoked meat available. Yummie!
The Brisket’s drinks menu features a variety of cocktails, beers, wines and whiskeys.
But it is the innovative cocktail creations designed by barkeeper Tom with correspondingly creative cocktail names which take us straight to cocktail heaven!
Want to try a Midnight in Kentucky or perhaps a Celery Sour or what about a Ginerita (our ultimate favourite!). The Brisket’s signature cocktail, The Old Fashioned Brisket is made of Bourbon, brown sugar and Angostura Bitters and sounds just as delicious as it tastes.
The selection of beers include some rare brands such as the Brooklyn Lager or a Belgian style Blue Moon made in Colorado.
Why We Love It
Is it a bar or a restaurant? Well, the Brisket can’t really be pinned down to either category and we’d go as far as calling it a gastro bar as it merges both concepts very smartly. The result is a vivid, trendy hangout which is rather unusual for Zurich and a great gain to the local gastronomic landscape.

The Brisket is an ideal place for an after work apero after a long day in the office or for a cocktail night out with the gals. Try the Tacos which come with a super delicious house made salsa.
